Vivit Board Director/
Co-Leader Florida LUG
The Florida LUG held an exciting, informative and successful meeting at Cigar City Brewery in Tampa, FL on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. It was a unique meeting in that it included members from two user groups local to the Tampa Bay area - the Florida Vivit LUG and TBQAA (Tampa Bay Quality Assurance Association). Coordinated by Vivit Co-leaders, Paul Shovlin and myself, as well as the TBQAA board. Seventeen attendees enjoyed complimentary beer (sponsored by Checkpoint Technologies – a Micro Focus Platinum partner), pizza (provided by Kforce), and a raffle to any members who “brought a friend”.

Paul Shovlin presented an overview of Vivit, highlighting the mission of Vivit and the many benefits of being a Vivit member. I took the opportunity to emphasize to the attendees the significant value of belonging to Vivit even if one is not a Micro Focus solutions user citing the accessibility to a network of knowledgeable IT experts and SIG (Special Interest Groups) webinars covering a variety of topics relevant to today’s IT and software testing landscape.

An overview of Micro Focus DevOps Suite |
Sneha Crews, Checkpoint Technologies’ Director of Support Services, did an excellent job of capturing attendees' attention with a presentation of, “A Day in the Life of a DevOps Engineer”! She provided a DevOps Market overview, common challenges of DevOps at the Enterprise scale, and a deep-dive into the solutions within the Micro Focus DevOps suite. The discussion and questions at the end of the presentation were outstanding!

The meeting resulted in the registration of five new Vivit members with considerable praise from members of both user groups for conducting a joint meeting! It introduced local professionals, who otherwise might not have known, to Vivit and its support of Micro Focus.
