Success through Partnering
By partnering with other local user groups, the Iowa Vivit group grew attendance for their Q1 2013 Agile meeting by over 300%. Normally, they have approximately 40 people register for their meetings. The Agile meeting drew 140 registrants.
After hearing from their users that they wanted to have a meeting focused on Agile Development, the Iowa Chapter Leaders reached out to the local Agile and Quality Assurance groups. Scott Anderson, co-leader of the Iowa Chapter, found contacts for the groups by Googling Agile Iowa and Des Moines Quality Assurance. He reached out to these groups three months in advance of the meeting to give everyone enough time to plan for a joint meeting.
The Leaders of all the groups had an initial leader conference call where they discussed how each group would contribute to the meeting. Two meeting topics were chosen:
- A demonstration of HP's new Agile tool given by HP.
- A tool agnostic overview of the Agile Test Automation Pyramid given by a member of the Agile user group.
The option to attend virtually via Go To Meeting was added. Out of the 140 registrants, 75 people attended the meeting. If you would like to contact Scott, he can be reached at: scotta7575@gmail.com.
